Cruise Control Switch: Testing and Inspection

Cruise ON/OFF, Set/Coast, Res/Acc and Cancel Switches Inspection

NOTE:
- Be sure to replace steering wheel cover with a new one if it is removed from steering wheel.
- Inspect cruise control lever with installing on steering wheel to prevent screws from loosing.
- Never disassemble cruise control lever. Disassembly will spoil its original functions.

Cruise ON/OFF Switch

1. Remove driver air bag (inflator) module referring to Driver Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation.
2. Disconnect cruise control lever connector (1) from cruise control lever (2).
3. Check for resistance between "a" and "b" terminals under each condition below.
If check result is not satisfactory, replace cruise control lever (2).

Cruise ON/OFF switch (3) resistance
Switch button released: Infinity
Switch button pressed: About 3.9 kOhms.

Set/Coast, Resume/Accel and Cancel Switch




1. Remove driver air bag (inflator) module referring to Driver Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation.
2. Disconnect cruise control lever connector (1) from cruise control lever (2).
3. Check for resistance between "b" and "c" terminals under each condition below.
If check result is not satisfactory, replace cruise control lever (2).

SET/COAST, RES/ACC and CANCEL switches resistance
All switches released (OFF): Infinity
CANCEL switch (4) pulled (ON): About 0 Ohms.
SET/COAST switch (5) rotated (ON): 217 - 223 Ohms.
RES/ACC switch (6) rotated (ON): 900 - 920 Ohms.
