Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection

A/C Refrigerant (Triple) Pressure Switch Inspection

A/C Control Pressure Switch
1. Run engine and A/C switch ON.
2. Check continuity between "a" and "b" terminals of A/C refrigerant pressure switch in normal A/C condition.
If no continuity, replace A/C refrigerant pressure switch.

A/C Condenser Cooling Fan Control Pressure Switch
1. Connect manifold gauge set to charging valve.
2. Run engine and A/C switch ON.




3. Check continuity and no continuity between "c" and "d" terminals of A/C refrigerant pressure switch according to A/C refrigerant pressure as shown.
If operation is not as specified, replace A/C refrigerant pressure switch.

Triple pressure switch specifications
"A": Approx. 196 kPa (1.96 kg/sq.cm, 27.9 psi)
"B": Approx. 225 kPa (2.55 kg/sq.cm, 36.3 psi)
"C": Approx. 2550 kPa (25.50 kg/sq.cm, 362.6 psi)
"D": Approx. 3140 kPa (31.40 kg/sq.cm, 446.5 psi)
"E": Approx. 1080 kPa (10.80 kg/sq.cm, 153.5 psi)
"F": Approx. 1470 kPa (14.70 kg/sq.cm, 209.0 psi)
