Variable Induction Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

IMT Vacuum Tank Assembly and IMT Vacuum Solenoid Valve On-Vehicle Inspection

CAUTION: Do not apply vacuum more than -86 kPa (-12.47 psi); otherwise IMT vacuum solenoid valve could be damaged.

IMT Vacuum Solenoid Valve and Its Circuit
1. Disconnect vacuum hoses from IMT valve and IMT vacuum tank.
2. Remove ECM cover.




3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using service wire, ground "E61-21" terminal of ECM connector (valve ON) (2) and un-ground it (valve OFF) (1)




4. Check IMT vacuum solenoid valve for operation and vacuum passage for clog when valve is ON and OFF by using service wire.
If check result is not satisfactory, check vacuum hose, IMT vacuum solenoid valve referring to IMT Vacuum Tank Assembly Inspection, wire harness and connections.

IMT vacuum solenoid valve specification
[A] Valve OFF: When applying vacuum (-53 kPa (-7.69 psi) to -67 kPa (-9.72 psi)) to hose (2), vacuum is maintained.

[B] Valve OFF: When applying vacuum to hose (1), air goes into nozzle (3)

[C] Valve ON: When applying vacuum to hose (2), air goes into hose (1)
