Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation (Rear Disc Brake Model)

Removal

1) Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheel.
2) Pull up parking brake lever.

Uncaulk rear drive shaft nut (1) and then remove rear drive shaft nut (1) (4WD model).





3) Remove rear brake caliper assembly and rear brake disc referring to Rear Brakes Rear Disc Brake Caliper Removal and Installation:Disc
and Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation:Disc.
4) Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector (1) (4WD model).
5) Remove wheel speed sensor (4) (2WD model).
6) Remove brake dust cover (2) and rear wheel hub assembly (3) from rear axle.

NOTE:
The rear hub bolts are pre-coated with friction stabilizer. If these bolts are reused, they may work loose.

Be sure to replace the rear hub bolts with new ones whenever they are removed.









7) Remove stud bolts from rear wheel hub assembly referring to Step 6) under "Removal" of Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation (Rear Drum Brake Model) Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation (Rear Drum Brake Model)
, if necessary.

Installation

1) Install stud bolts to rear wheel hub assembly referring to Step 1) under "Installation" of Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation (Rear Drum Brake Model) Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation (Rear Drum Brake Model)
, if removed.
2) Install rear brake dust cover (1), rear wheel hub assembly (2) and then tighten new rear hub bolts to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Rear hub bolt (a): 82 Nm (8.4 kgf-m, 60.5 lbf-ft)

3) Connect wheel speed sensor connector (3) (4WD model).
4) Install wheel speed sensor (4) and tighten wheel speed sensor bolt to specified torque (2WD model).

Tightening torque
Wheel speed sensor bolt (b): 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.0 lbf-ft)









5) Install rear brake disc and rear brake caliper assembly referring to Rear Brakes Rear Disc Brake Caliper Removal and Installation:Disc
and Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation Rear Brake Disc Removal and Installation:Disc.
6) Pull up parking brake lever.

For 4WD model, tighten new rear drive shaft nut to specified torque referring to Rear Drive Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation Rear Drive Shaft Assembly Removal and Installation:Rear.
7) Install wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque referring to Removal and Replacement Wheel (with Tire) Removal and Installation.
8) Adjust parking brake cable. For adjustment referring to Adjustments Parking Brake Inspection and Adjustment.
9) Upon completion of installation, perform brake test.
