A/C COMPRESSOR INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Use the following tip when installing an A/C compressor on the "ZZ" or "AZ" series engines to ensure proper belt alignment. Improper installation of the A/C compressor may result in abnormal belt noise or wear.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 1998 -- Current model year Corolla vehicles.
- 2000 -- Current model year Celica vehicles.
- 2001 -- Current model year Highlander vehicles with 4 cylinder engine.
- 2001 -- Current model year RAV4 vehicles.
- 2002 -- Current model year Camry vehicles with 4 cylinder engine.
- 2002 -- Current model year Solara vehicles with 4 cylinder engine.
- 2003 -- Current model year Matrix vehicles.
WARRANTY INFORMATION:
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
1. AZ Series Engine:
Install A/C Compressor Procedure
a) Loosely install the compressor with the 3 bolts and nut or 4 bolts.
Push down on the rear side of the compressor and tighten the bolts/nut in the order shown.
Torque: 24.5 N-m (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)
2. ZZ Series Engine:
Install A/C Compressor
a) Loosely install the compressor with the 3 bolts or 2 bolts and a nut.
Push down on the rear side of the compressor and tighten the bolts/nut in the order shown.
Torque: 29 N-m (295 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf)
