MAINTENANCE: ENGINE: GENERAL MAINTENANCE

GENERAL MAINTENANCE
HINT: Inspect these items when the engine is cold.

1. REPLACE CHAIN SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Removal
- 1GR-FE, 2WD: Removal
- 1GR-FE, 4WD and Pre-runner: Removal

2. INSPECT DRIVE BELT
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Testing and Inspection
- 1GR-FE: Testing and Inspection

3. REPLACE SPARK PLUGS
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Testing and Inspection
- 1GR-FE: Testing and Inspection

4. REPLACE AIR CLEANER FILTER
(a) Replace the air filter with a new one.
5. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Removal
- 1GR-FE: Removal

6. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Service and Repair
- 1GR-FE: Service and Repair

7. INSPECT RADIATOR FIN
(a) Check that the radiator and condenser are not blocked with leaves, dirt, or insets, and clean the hose connection.
8. INSPECT GASKET IN FUEL TANK CAP
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Testing and Inspection
- 1GR-FE: Testing and Inspection

9. INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER
HINT:
- 2TR-FE: Testing and Inspection
- 1GR-FE: Testing and Inspection

10. INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS AND FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BAND
(a) Visually check the fuel lines for cracks, leakage, loose connections, deformation or tank band looseness.
11. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPE AND MOUNTING
(a) Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.
12. INSPECT VALVE CLEARANCE (for 1GR-FE)
