Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) -G54-, Installing


CAUTION!
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
- After reconnecting battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio.


NOTE:
- Some systems in the vehicle require a speed signal (instrument cluster, 28 pin multi-pin connector, contact 7).
- On vehicles with a mechanical speedometer the speed sensor is bolted to the rear side of the instrument and delivers 4 impulses per drive cable revolution. An inductive sensor (2-pin) or crankshaft position sensor (3-pin) is used for radios with Gala 1994 >.







- On reverse side of instrument cluster, carefully break part -A- off along perforated line.







- Insert the speed sensor -1- into the resulting recess and secure with Philips screws -3-.







- Ensure that the conductive strip -3- lies crease-free on the sensor spring contacts.







- Secure contact plate -A- with screws -B-
