Hall Effect Sensor: Testing and Inspection

CHECKING VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Disconnect Hall sender harness connector at ignition distributor.

Hall Sender Connector:





- Using a digital multimeter on 20 Volt range, connect multimeter to outer terminals of connector using jumper wires.
- Switch ON ignition.
- Must be 10 Volts minimum.
- If NO:

- Switch ignition OFF.
- Replace Digitant Engine Control Module (ECM) (J169).


CHECKING FUNCTION
- Disconnect cold start valve harness connector.
- Disconnect fuel injector harness connector at fuel rail.
- Slide up the rubber boot on the Hall sender harness connector (at the ignition distributor).
- Plug the connector back in to the Hall sender.

Hall Sender Connector:





- Connect US 1115 LED tester, or equivalent, to the center and the brown/white outer wire of the Hall sender connector (while connected) using jumper wires.
- Operate starter.
- LED tester must flicker.
- If NO:

- Replace Hall sender.
