Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Testing and Inspection

CHECKING MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR

Special Tools
- VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST) using adaptor cable VAG 1551/1.

Functional Check
- Check with engine idling, using Scan Tool in Function 08 "Read measuring value block".

Test Conditions
- VAG 1551 Scan Tool connected and Function 08 "Read measuring value block" selected (display group number 03).

^ Display will appear as shown: 1 to 4 = Display channels

Read measurement block 3 -->
1 2 3 4

Test Sequence
- Do not continue with check until Engine Coolant Temperature is above 85°C (185°F), observe value in display channel 2.

^ Specification: 20 to 40% (fluctuating)

- If specification not obtained:

- Check vacuum line to Engine Control Module (ECM) J169, if necessary replace ECM.
- Press --> button.
- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06: "End data output".
- Press Q button to enter input.
