Main Fuse Box

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

CAUTION!
• Observe safety precautions when working on battery isolation system. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Battery Isolator Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

Main fuse box is located in the luggage compartment, behind left wheel housing above the battery.

In vehicles with battery in luggage compartment, a main fuse box is installed which also deploys the pyrotechnic battery isolator, among other things.

Removing:

- Remove pyrotechnic battery isolator. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Battery Cut-Out ] Pyrotechnic Battery Cut-Out.

- Remove the nuts - 3 -, - 4 - and - 5 - and remove wires from connection threads.





- Pull harness connector - 1 - out of its secured position in main fuse box.

- Pull the locking lever - 1 - outward in the direction of the arrow and disconnect the connector - 2 -.





- Remove both bolts - arrows - and the main fuse box - 1 - from the vehicle.





Installing:

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Tighten all threaded connections to specified torque. Refer to => [ Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.
