Vacuum Reservoir In Intake Manifold For Proper Seal, Checking

Recommended special tools and equipment







- V.A.G 1390 Hand Vacuum Pump

Test requirement
- All vacuum hoses on intake manifold not damaged and correctly connected, assembly overview of intake manifold.

Test sequence
Observe safety precautions.
Observe rules for cleanliness.

- Disconnect vacuum hose from Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) Valve -N316- at connection of vacuum reservoir in intake manifold.
- Connect hand vacuum pump (V.A.G 1390) to connection of vacuum reservoir.
- Operate hand vacuum pump until a vacuum of 0.3 bar has been attained on the pressure gauge.

NOTE: Due to the large volume in the vacuum reservoir, up to 30 strokes may be required to generate a vacuum 0.3 bar.

- Observe pressure drop on pressure gauge.

Pressure must not fall below 0.3 bar after 3 to 5 minutes.

If pressure drops further:
- Replace intake manifold with vacuum reservoir.

NOTE: Vacuum reservoir is a component of the intake manifold and cannot be replaced by itself.

- Erase DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM), Diagnostic mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data. Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory
- Generate readiness code. Monitors, Trips, Drive Cycles and Readiness Codes
