Steering Column, Electronic Lock Inoperative, DTC 02638012 Stored in Gateway Control Module
The -J764- Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) is inoperative and the fault code is stored shown on the table above.
Note:
The condition as described DOES NOT compromise steering.
Technical Background
Internal software fault with -J533- Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface (Gateway Module).
Production Solution
Start of Production MY 2007
Service
Verify there are no concerns with the wiring between the -J533- and -J764-.
If a concern is found:
^ Repair as necessary.
^ Scan vehicle for a reoccurrence.
^ If concern does not reappear no further action is needed.
If no concern is found with wiring:
^ Replace the -J533-.
