Components Activated In Selected Gears

BRAKES:

B1 Locks sun gear shaft for primary shaft planetary trains (P1, P2) so that it cannot rotate in any direction.

B2 Locks, with aid of F1, the sun gear shaft for primary shaft planetary trains (P1, P2) so that it cannot rotate counterclockwise.

B3 Locks the front planetary train (P2) ring gear so that it cannot rotate in any direction.

B4 Locks the sun gear for the secondary shaft planetary train (P3) so that it cannot rotate in any direction.

FREEWHEELS:

F1 Prevents sun gear shaft for primary shaft planetary trains (P1, P2) from rotating counterclockwise when B2 is engaged.

F2 Prevents front planetary train (P2) ring gear from rotating counterclockwise.

F3 Prevents sun gear for secondary shaft planetary train (P3) from rotating clockwise.

CLUTCHES:

C1 Engages input shaft with rear planetary train (P1) ring gear.

C2 Engages input shaft with sun gear shaft for primary shaft planetary trains (P1, P2).

C3 Engages planetary gear carrier and sun gear for secondary shaft planetary train (P3).

GEAR SHIFTING SOLENOIDS:

S1 Controls shifting in the transmission. Activated in 2nd and 3rd gears.

S2 Controls shifting in the transmission. Activated in reverse, 1st and 2nd gears.
