Condition(s)
- no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.
- engine at normal operating temperature.

Possible source(s)
- contact resistance in engine speed (RPM) sensor connector.
- defective engine speed sensor.
- contact resistance in camshaft position (CMP) sensor connector.
- contact resistance in engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor connector.
- defective engine coolant temperature sensor.
- incorrect fuel or residual pressure.
- contact resistance in ignition discharge module (IDM) connectors.
- loose connections in ignition discharge module ground terminals contact resistance in ignition coil connectors.
- start fault-tracing. Proceed to: Cleaning and Greasing Components.
