Condenser

Replacing condenser

Special tools: 999 5474

WARNING: Follow the appropriate safety precautions when working on the climate control system.

NOTE:
- Read the instructions about slow and large leaks.
- Always use new O-rings lubricated with air conditioning (A/C) compressor oil.
- Always plug pipes and connectors when working on the climate control system.

General

- Drain the refrigerant from the system.

Remove the pipe between the condenser and receiver drier

- Remove the upper support for the cooler.
- Disconnect the pipe for the condenser from the cooler and plug the openings.
- Remove two mounting screws from the condenser.
- Lift up the radiator slightly and push it towards the cylinder block (press at the bottom of the radiator).
- Lift the condenser. Remove it with a twisting movement.

Installation







- Transfer the components (foam, rubber etc.) to the new condenser.
- Position the condenser. Tighten to 10 Nm.
- Install the radiator and secure it at the support. Tightening torque 10 Nm.
- Remove the seals.
- Lubricate the new O-rings with compressor oil.
- Install the pipes. Tighten the pipes to 25 Nm.

Filling with refrigerant

- Vacuum pump according to Vacuum Pumping.
- Fill the system with refrigerant according to Filling with refrigerant.
- Fill the system with fluorescent tracing agent according to Filling with fluorescent tracing agent.
- Leak trace according to Leak tracing, electronic leak tracer or Leak tracing with fluorescent tracing agent and an UV lamp.
