Parking Brake Cable - Rear
Removal and Installation
LH and RH cables
1. NOTE: Make sure the parking brake control is fully released.
Release the parking brake cable tension. For additional information, refer to Parking Brake Cable Tension Release Procedures.
2. Disconnect the RH rear parking brake cable from the intermediate cable at the cable union.
3. Disconnect the LH cable from the RH cable equalizer.
4. Remove the parking brake cable double clamp.
5. Remove the parking brake cable from the wireform bracket.
6. Separate the LH rear parking brake cable from the frame bracket.
- Compress the parking brake cable clip.
- Separate the LH rear parking brake cable from the frame bracket.
LH cable
7. Remove the LH rear parking brake cable bracket nuts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
8. Separate the LH rear parking brake cable from the LH axle tube clip.
RH cable
9. Detach the RH rear parking brake cable from the parking brake cable differential bracket.
RH and LH cables
10. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the rear parking brake cable extension unions.
11. Compress the clips and disconnect the rear parking brake cables from the axle housing brackets.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
