Pinpoint Test D: DTC P193D
Normal Operation
- DTC P193D (Cruise Control Multi-Function Input Signal)- sets when the PCM is not receiving the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) signal from the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) for the cruise control switches.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- PCM
- SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)
PINPOINT TEST D : DTC P193D
D1 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH PID IN THE PCM
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Powertrain DataLogger- Cruise Control.
- Press each cruise control switch while monitoring the cruise control switch PID (SCCS).
Cruise Control Switch SCCS PID Value- NONE Pressed CNCL/RES CANCEL/RESUME ON/OFF ON/OFF SET + SET/ + SET - SET/-
Does the PID value agree with the switch position?
Yes
GO to D2.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test C. Pinpoint Test D: DTC P193D
D2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
Does the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) module pass the network test?
Yes
GO to D3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
D3 RECHECK THE PCM DTCs
NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI (Programmable Module Installation) may not have been carried out.
- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the PCM self-test.
Is DTC P193D still present?
Yes
GO to D4.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
D4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION
- Connect: All Disconnected Connectors.
- Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
