SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.
NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.
2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY Removal
3. REMOVE NO. 1 DECK BOARD Removal
4. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD Removal
5. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal
6. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH Removal
7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
8. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

9. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL Removal
10. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL Removal
11. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal
12. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
13. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
14. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
CAUTION:
When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
(a) Check that the power switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
(c) Remove the 4 bolts.
(d) Disengage the 2 claws to disconnect the DLC3.
(e) Disengage the 6 claws and 3 guides to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
NOTICE:
When removing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.
(f) Remove the clamp.
(g) Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

(h) Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
