Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Adapter Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System Service and Repair.
2. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
3. Remove the spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and the coolant temperature sensor (CTS) electrical connectors.
5. Remove the heater return hose at the EGR valve adapter valve.
6. Remove the EGR valve adapter bolts.
7. Remove the EGR valve adapter and gasket.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the EGR valve adapter and gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice.

2. Install the EGR valve adapter retaining bolts.

* Tighten the EGR valve adapter retaining bolts (1) to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
* Tighten the EGR valve adapter retaining bolts (2) to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).

3. Install the heater return hose to the EGR valve adapter.
4. Connect the EGR valve and the CTS electrical connectors.
5. Install the spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Install the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System Service and Repair.
