Operation

The 42LE transaxle provides forward ratios of 2.84, 1.57, 1.00, and 0.69. The torque converter clutch is available in 2nd, direct, or overdrive gear. The Reverse ratio is 2.21. The Autostick shift lever has five positions (P, R, N, OD, and Autostick). Final drive ratio (FDR) is dependent on which engine option is selected. The 2.7L has a FDR of 3.89. The 3.2/3.5 has a FDR of 3.66. This change is accomplished by using different transfer gear sprockets. The Torque Converter is also different between a 2.7L and 3.2/3.5. The torque converters differ install speed and torque ratio.
