Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1985---86
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove glove box assembly, as required, then the engine cover.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly, then drain cooling system.
4. Disconnect vacuum pipe rail from exhaust manifold and thermostat housing.
5. Disconnect all electrical and vacuum connectors necessary for intake manifold removal.
6. Disconnect accelerator, TVS and cruise control cables, as required.
7. Disconnect vacuum and fuel lines and the coolant hoses from intake manifold.
8. Unfasten alternator and position aside.
9. Remove ignition coil attaching bolts from cylinder head and intake manifold.
10. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts and the intake manifold.
11. Reverse procedure to install. Torque intake manifold attaching bolts to specifications in sequence, Fig. 3.
