Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove engine cover and air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect wire harness electrical connectors from intake manifold, Fig. 3.
4. Disconnect accelerator, TVS and cruise control cables and bracket.
5. Remove cruise control transducer, if equipped.
6. Disconnect EGR vacuum line, then remove emissions sensor bracket from the manifold.
7. Remove fuel lines, vacuum lines and wiring from TBI unit, then drain cooling system.
8. Remove coolant hoses from manifold.
9. Remove alternator rear bracket.
10. Disconnect vacuum hoses and lines from the manifold, then the vacuum line clips from the thermostat and manifold.
11. Disconnect spark plug and coil wires.
12. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts and washers, then the intake manifold.
13. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten intake manifold attaching bolts to specifications.
