Generator Replacement




Generator Replacement (With LMM) (6.6L)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (6.6L) (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).




4. Remove the generator bolts (1).
5. Remove the generator front support bracket attached to the generator bracket and the generator.
6. Reposition the generator to access wiring.
7. Remove the positive battery cable nut from the generator.
8. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.
9. Remove the generator (2).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the generator (2) to the generator bracket.
2. Connect the generator electrical connector.
3. Install the positive battery cable to the generator stud.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Install the cable nut to the generator stud and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
5. Install the generator bolts (1) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
6. Install the generator front support bracket and attach it to the generator and the generator bracket.
7. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Install the upper fan shroud. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) (Service and Repair)Engine Coolant Fan Upper Shroud Replacement (6.6L) (Service and Repair).
