Boost Solenoid: Description and Operation

Vacuum Diagram:

PURPOSE
Solenoid valves permit ECU control of vacuum actuators that regulate turbocharger system function.

LOCATION
Top of engine beneath extension manifold, except wastegate control and turbo precontrol valves. These are attached to front of extension manifold.

OPERATION
Normally closed solenoid valves supply vacuum to turbo system actuators when energized by the ECU.

CONSTRUCTION
There are 6 ECU controlled solenoid valves:
^ Turbo control No. 1
^ Turbo control No. 2
^ Wastegate control
^ Turbo precontrol
^ Charge control
^ Charge relief
