Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Crank Angle Sensor:
PURPOSE
Detects eccentric shaft position at 30° intervals and front rotor position. Signals ECU with this information, which is used in calculations for functions such as ignition and injection timing.
LOCATION
Front of engine, behind eccentric shaft pulley.
OPERATION
Sensors are the magnetic pick-up that detect interruptions in a magnetic field as openings in the crank angle sensor plate rotate past.
