EGR Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Detects EGR valve movement and signals ECU. Used to determine if EGR valve and system are functioning. If not, ECU will set diagnostic trouble code 16. For example, a stuck EGR valve can set code 16.

LOCATION
On top of EGR valve.

OPERATION
Switch is either "ON" (shows continuity) or "OFF" (no continuity) depending on vacuum to EGR valve. ECU determines if EGR system is operating based on switch input.
