Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Sensor detects changes in intake manifold pressure resulting from engine load and speed changes and converts these changes into an ECU voltage input signal.

LOCATION
On firewall behind throttle body.

OPERATION
The sensor measures manifold absolute pressure, the opposite of engine manifold vacuum. A closed throttle on deceleration produces low absolute pressure while wide open throttle results in high absolute pressure.
