Evaporative Emissions System: Description and Operation

EVAP System:






PURPOSE
Prevent evaporative fuel vapors from entering the atmosphere. System consists of a fuel vapor valve, two-way check valve, charcoal canister, purge control solenoid valve, ECU, and input devices.

LOCATION
^ Charcoal canister: left rear corner engine compartment
^ Fuel vapor valve: top of fuel tank
^ Separator: above fuel tank
^ Two-way check valve: in vapor line above fuel tank.
^ Purge control solenoid: near throttle body

OPERATION
The quantity of evaporative vapors introduced into the engine intake system varies according to operating conditions and is ECU controlled via the solenoid valve.
