Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

OPERATION CHECK

EVAP System Operation:






1. Warm engine to operating temperature and run at idle.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose from solenoid valve and verify no vacuum is felt.
3. If not as specified, check solenoid valve.

SOLENOID VALVE CHECK

Purge Control Solenoid Inspection:






1. Disconnect vacuum hoses and electrical connector.
2. Blow into valve and verify no air passes through.
3. Apply battery voltage across solenoid terminals. Verify that air now flows through.
4. If not as specified, check resistance.

RESISTANCE: 30 - 34 ohms @ 68°F (20°C)

5. If not as specified, replace solenoid valve.
