Spark Plug: Testing and Inspection
Spark Plug Inspection:
INSPECTION
Check the following points. If a problem is found, replace the plug:
^ Damaged insulation
^ Worn electrodes
^ Excessive carbon deposits
^ Damaged gasket
^ Burned
Plug gap should be 0.044 - 0.066 in (1.1 - 1.7 mm)
CAUTION: To protect platinum electrode:
^ Do not use wire brush to clean electrode.
^ Use plug cleaner for maximum of 20 seconds and air pressure below 85 psi (589 kPa).
^ Do not adjust plug gap.
