DTC B1713[17] Rear Ventilation Duct Actuator Position Sensor: Open/Short to Battery (Auto A/C)

1. Auto A/C control system check

Refer to "57.HVAC Control 7A.Troubleshooting(Auto A/C) diagnostic system check-auto A/C controls".

2. Wire harness and connector inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the auto A/C control unit harness connector (B10) and rear ventilation duct actuator harness connector (B60).

3) Inspect the wire harnesses and connectors for the following. Is the result normal?

Wire harness to be inspected

  • Between the auto A/C control unit harness connector (pin 17 of B10) and the rear ventilation duct actuator (pin 1 of B60)
  • Between the auto A/C control unit harness connector (pin 13 of B10) and the rear ventilation duct actuator (pin 2 of B60)

Inspection items

  • Short to the battery power supply circuit or short to the ignition power supply circuit
  • Continuity
  • Short to the 5 V reference circuit or short to other circuits

Refer to "RHD HVAC (Automatic Air Conditioner)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Position sensor 5 V power supply voltage inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

3. Position sensor 5 V power supply voltage inspection

1) Connect the auto A/C control unit harness connector (B10).

2) Turn ON the ignition switch.

3) Measure the voltage between the 5 V power supply circuit and the low reference circuit of the position sensor (pins 1 and 3 of B60) with a DMM. Is the voltage within the specified range?

Value: 4.5 to 5.5 V

Yes

Replace the rear ventilation duct actuator.

Refer to "7.HVAC 7B.Heater Ventilator Airconditioner actuator removal".

Refer to "7.HVAC 7B.Heater Ventilator Airconditioner actuator installation".

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

=>Go to Control panel replacement.

4. Control panel replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the control panel.

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Start the engine.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
