1) Connect the scan tool.
2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 1 minute or more.
3) Start the engine. If the engine does not start, crank the engine for 10 seconds.
4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?
Yes
=>Go to Prioritized DTC check.
No
Go to Intermittent conditions of engine.

1) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC P0651 set at the same time?
Yes
Go to DTC P0651 diagnosis.

No
=>Go to CMP sensor 5 V reference voltage check.
1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2) Disconnect the CMP sensor harness connector (E19).
3) Turn ON the ignition switch.
4) Measure the voltage between the CMP sensor 5 V reference circuit (pin 3 of E19) and the body ground with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?

1) Measure the voltage between the CMP sensor signal circuit (pin 1 of E19) and the body ground with a DMM.

=>Go to CMP sensor signal voltage check using test lamp.
The reading is less than the specified value.
=>Go to Inspection for open circuit and short circuit in CMP sensor signal circuit.
1) Connect a test lamp between the CMP sensor signal circuit (pin 1 of E19) and the body ground.
2) Measure the voltage between the CMP sensor signal circuit (pin 1 of E19) and the body ground with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?

1) Measure the voltage between the 5 V reference circuit and the low reference circuit of the CMP sensor (pins 2 and 3 of E19) with a DMM. Is the voltage more than or equal to the specified value?
