DTC P041B EGR Cooler Outlet Temperature Sensor Performance (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P041B description

EGR gas temperature sensor 2 (EGR valve side) is installed to the EGR valve adapter. EGR gas temperature sensor 2 (EGR valve side) is a variable resistor and measures the exhaust temperature of the EGR cooler outlet. If the ECM detects that EGR gas temperature 2 is not within the calculated range, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P041B

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The battery voltage is 10 to 16 V.
  • 6 hours or more have passed since the engine was stopped.
  • DTCs P007C, P007D, P0112, P0113, P0117, P0118, P041C, P041D, P0427, P0428, P042C, P042D, P04D0, P04D1, P060B, P0651, P0697, P06A3, P06D2, P06D6, P1076, and P1077 are not set.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects that the difference between EGR gas temperature 2 and CAC temperature 2 is not within the predetermined range. (This indicates the temperature is too low or too high.)

3. Action taken when DTC P041B is set

  • The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type B.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC type definitions".

  • The ECM inhibits the EGR control.

4. Condition for clearing DTC P041B

  • Refer to Conditions for clearing the MIL/DTC - Type A or Type B.

Refer to "51.Engine Control 1A.Troubleshooting(4JJ3 with DPD) DTC type definitions".
