DTC P0111 Intake Air Temperature Sensor Range/Performance (4JJ3 with DPD)

1. DTC P0111 description

The IAT sensor is installed between the air cleaner and the turbocharger and is integrated with the MAF sensor. The IAT sensor is a variable resistor and measures the temperature of the air flowing into the engine. Charge air cooler temperature sensor 2 is installed on the outlet side of the intercooler. Charge air cooler temperature sensor 2 is a variable resistor and measures the intake air temperature at the intercooler outlet. The ECM continually monitors the difference between the temperatures input from both sensors. If the ECM detects that the difference between the temperatures input from both sensors is larger than the calculated value, the DTC is set.

2. Condition for setting DTC P0111

Condition for running the DTC

  • The ignition switch is ON.
  • The battery voltage is 10 to 16 V.
  • 6 hours or more have passed since the engine was stopped.
  • DTCs P007C, P007D, P0112, P0113, P0117, P0118, P041C, P041D, P0427, P0428, P042C, P042D, P04D0, P04D1, P060B, P0651, P0697, P06A3, P06D2, P06D6, P1076, and P1077 are not set.

Condition for setting the DTC

  • The ECM detects that the difference between the intake air temperature and the intercooler outlet temperature is not within the predetermined range.

3. Action taken when DTC P0111 sets

  • The ECM illuminates the MIL. Refer to Action taken when DTC sets - Type B.
