DTC B0073[12] Pretensioner(Rear Left) Circuit Short to Battery Voltage (Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side))

1. SRS system check

Refer to "58.SRS Control 8A.Troubleshooting(Air Bag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Roof/Knee/Far Side)) diagnostic system check-SRS controls".

2. Current DTC check

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC B0073[12] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Rear left side pretensioner circuit check.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of SRS control.

Refer to "209.Restraints 22D.Symptom Intermittent conditions of SRS control".

3. Rear left side pretensioner circuit check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

2) Disconnect the rear left side pretensioner harness connector (R61).

3) Connect the SRS alternative load and the appropriate adapter from the adapter harness kit to the rear left side pretensioner harness connector (R61).

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

4) Turn ON the ignition switch.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool for DTC B0073[12] being set as a current failure. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for short to power supply in rear left side pretensioner ignition current output (High) circuit.

No

Replace the rear left side seat belt with pretensioner.

Refer to "8.Restraints 8C.Seat Belt Systems rear tongue side seat belt (with pretensioner) removal".

Refer to "8.Restraints 8C.Seat Belt Systems rear tongue side seat belt (with pretensioner) installation".

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Inspection for short to power supply in rear left side pretensioner ignition current output (High) circuit

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

2) Inspect the rear left side pretensioner ignition current output (High) circuit between the SRS control unit (pin 6 of R7) and the rear left side pretensioner (pin 2 of R61) for a short to the power supply circuit. Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for short to power supply in rear left side pretensioner ignition current output (Low) circuit.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Inspection for short to power supply in rear left side pretensioner ignition current output (Low) circuit

1) Inspect the rear left side pretensioner ignition current output (Low) circuit between the SRS control unit (pin 7 of R7) and the rear left side pretensioner (pin 1 of R61) for a short to the power supply circuit. Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD SRS airbag (Driver/Passenger/Side/Curtain/Knee/Far Side)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to SRS control unit replacement.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. SRS control unit replacement

Note

  • Perform the VIN programming and ECU lock after replacing the SRS control unit.

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control SRS control unit removal".

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control SRS control unit installation".

Refer to "8.Restraints 8Z.Seat Belt and SRS Airbag Electrical Control SRS control unit setting".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Repair verification

1) Reconnect all of the disconnected harness connectors.

2) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

3) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 15 seconds or more.

4) Perform a test drive.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
