DTC B1107[17] Sun Sensor (Driver): Short to Battery (Auto A/C)

1. Auto A/C control system check

Refer to "57.HVAC Control 7A.Troubleshooting(Auto A/C) diagnostic system check-auto A/C controls".

2. Driver side sun sensor signal voltage check 1

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Start the engine.

4) Observe the Sun Sensor (Driver) A/D Input Raw Voltage parameter on the scan tool. Is the Sun Sensor (Driver) A/D Input Raw Voltage parameter more than or equal to the specified value?

Value: 5.0 V

Yes

=>Go to Driver side sun sensor signal voltage check 2.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of auto A/C control system.

Refer to "208.HVAC 21D.Symptom intermittent conditions of auto A/C control system".

3. Driver side sun sensor signal voltage check 2

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the sun sensor harness connector (B72).

Refer to "LHD HVAC (Automatic Air Conditioner)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD HVAC (Automatic Air Conditioner)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the Sun Sensor (Driver) A/D Input Raw Voltage parameter on the scan tool. Is the Sun Sensor (Driver) A/D Input Raw Voltage parameter less than or equal to the specified value?

Value: 0.3 V

Yes

=>Go to Sun sensor 5 V reference circuit inspection using test lamp.

No

=>Go to Inspection for short to power supply in driver side sun sensor signal circuit.

4. Sun sensor 5 V reference circuit inspection using test lamp

1) Connect a test lamp between the sun sensor 5 V reference circuit (pin 1 of B72) and the body ground. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Refer to "LHD HVAC (Automatic Air Conditioner)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD HVAC (Automatic Air Conditioner)" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

Replace the sun sensor.

Refer to "7.HVAC 7Z.HVAC Control sun sensor removal".

Refer to "7.HVAC 7Z.HVAC Control sun sensor installation".

No

=>Go to Inspection for short to power supply in sun sensor 5 V reference circuit.

5. Inspection for short to power supply in driver side sun sensor signal circuit

1) Inspect the driver side sun sensor signal circuit between the auto A/C control unit harness connector (pin 16 of B10) and the sun sensor (pin 2 of B72) for the following. Is the result normal?

  • Short to the battery power supply circuit or short to the ignition power supply circuit
  • Short to the 5 V reference circuit

Note

  • The sun sensor may be damaged if the sensor signal circuit is shorted to the power supply.

Yes

=>Go to Control panel replacement.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Inspection for short to power supply in sun sensor 5 V reference circuit

1) Inspect the sun sensor 5 V reference circuit between the auto A/C control unit harness connector (pin 17 of B10) and the sun sensor (pin 1 of B72) for a short to the battery power supply circuit or a short to the ignition power supply circuit. Is the result normal?

Caution

  • The sun sensor shares the 5 V reference circuit with other sensors. A malfunction in the 5 V reference circuit may set DTCs on sensors that share this circuit.

Yes

=>Go to Control panel replacement.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Control panel replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the control panel.

Refer to "7.HVAC 7B.Heater Ventilator Airconditioner control panel and control lever removal".

Refer to "7.HVAC 7B.Heater Ventilator Airconditioner control panel and control lever installation".

Refer to "7.HVAC 7B.Heater Ventilator Airconditioner control panel and control lever setting".

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

8. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Start the engine.

4) Operate the vehicle under the conditions for running the DTC.

5) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
