REAR STABILIZER REMOVAL [4WD]

Caution
•  Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.

1.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

2.  Release the electric parking brake.

3.  Switch the ignition off.

4.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

5.  Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6.  Disconnect the wiring harness clip and the wiring harness connector from the rear crossmember .

7.  Set the rear differential breather hose aside.

8.  Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness and the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector, and set them aside so that they do not interfere with the servicing. (See REAR ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [4WD].)

9.  Remove the following parts. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(1)  Floor under cover No.2
(2)  Floor under cover No.1

10.  Remove the fasteners in the order shown in the figure.

11.  Remove the insulator.

12.  Remove the following parts. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)

(1)  Brace bar
(2)  Tunnel member
(3)  Strut bar

13.  Remove the following parts.

(1)  TWC (SKYACTIV-G 2.5) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5].)
(2)  Middle pipe (SKYACTIV-D 2.2) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].)
(3)  Propeller shaft (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Remove the rear stabilizer control link.

(5)  Rear coil spring (See REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

14.  Remove in the order shown in the figure.

Rear Stabilizer Component Removal Note

1.  Support the rear crossmember component with a jack and remove the rear crossmember installation nuts.

2.  Using a jack, lower the rear crossmember component until the rear stabilizer component can be removed from the vehicle.

Rear Stabilizer Bracket Removal Note

1.  Secure the rear stabilizer bracket flange in a vise.

2.  Remove the rear stabilizer bracket.

Caution
•  The rear stabilizer bracket may deform if it is removed using a vise. When removing the rear stabilizer bracket using a vise, secure the front stabilizer bracket flange in the vise as shown in the figure, then remove it.
