Outline

System malfunction location	Approaching vehicle audible system device high power voltage input
Detection condition	•  The approaching vehicle audible system device detects that the approaching vehicle audible system device power supply circuit voltage was 16 V or more at a vehicle speed of 0—40 km/h {0—24 mph} for 3.6 s or more.
Fail-safe	•  Approaching vehicle audible system control is stopped
Possible cause	•  DTCs are stored in the following modules. ―  PCM ―  DC-DC converter •  Lead-acid battery malfunction •  Approaching vehicle audible system device malfunction
System wiring diagram	Not applicable
Connector diagram	Not applicable

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	VERIFY DTCs •  Perform the DTC inspection for the following modules. (See DTC INSPECTION.) ―  PCM ―  DC-DC converter •  Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [PCM (e-SKYACTIV)].) (See DTC TABLE [DC-DC CONVERTER (e-SKYACTIV)].)
		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT LEAD-ACID BATTERY FOR MALFUNCTION •  Inspect the applicable part. (See LEAD-ACID BATTERY INSPECTION.) •  Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification. (See LEAD-ACID BATTERY RECHARGING.) (See LEAD-ACID BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Repair completion verification 1	VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED •  Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. •  Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC.) •  Drive the vehicle at 0—40 km/h {0—24 mph} for 3.6 s or more. •  Perform the DTC inspection for the approaching vehicle audible system device. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [L.H.D. (E)].) (See CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [R.H.D.].) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. •  If the malfunction recurs, replace the approaching vehicle audible system device, then go to the next step. (See APPROACHING VEHICLE AUDIBLE SYSTEM (AVAS) DEVICE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	VERIFY IF OTHER DTC IS DISPLAYED •  Perform the DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION.) •  Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
