Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If the necessary measures are not taken before servicing an electric vehicle, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death. Before servicing the electric vehicle, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and implement the necessary measures. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

High Voltage Part Inspection And Removal/Installation Notes

Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  If necessary measures such as wearing the correct protective gear are not taken when inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, it could cause electrical shock and result in serious injury or, in the worst case, death.
•  Before inspecting or removing/installing the high voltage parts, refer to [HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS] in the general information and [High Voltage Part Inspection and Removal/Installation Notes] of the high voltage system service cautions and implement the necessary measures and preparations. (See HIGH VOLTAGE SERVICE CAUTIONS.) (See HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)
Warning
<<High voltage>>
•  Inspections that require installation/removal of the high voltage battery cover cannot be performed because the high voltage battery cannot be disassembled. Perform the operation inspection and troubleshooting on the DTCs output by the PCM, BECM, and heat pump control unit. (See DTC INSPECTION.)

Operation Inspection

1.  Inspect the refrigerant pressure.

(See REFRIGERANT PRESSURE CHECK.)

•  If not as specified, inspect the refrigerant system according to the full-auto air conditioner troubleshooting chart. (See TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].)

2.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

3.  Verify BECM PID [HV_BATT_TEMP_MAX] is below 40 °C {104 °F}.

(See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION.) (See PID/DATA MONITOR TABLE [BECM (e-SKYACTIV)].)

•  If the PID [HV_BATT_TEMP_MAX] is 40 °C {104 °F} or more, perform the [Cooling for drive battery] for 5 min.
(See HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLING SYSTEM INSPECTION.)

4.  Select the following menu to perform the on-board diagnostic for the electric expansion valve.

Note
•  This function operates at an ambient temperature 15 to 40 °C {59 to 104 °F}.
(1)  Press [Start] to start the vehicle identification.
(2)  Press the [Toolbox] tab.
(3)  Press the [Work Support] icon.
(4)  Press [EV].
(5)  Press [Run] for Self-Diagnosing Air Conditioner control valves.
(6)  Select the Expansion valve for cooling battery.
•  If there is a malfunction, replace the high voltage battery. (See HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
•  If the test is not completed due to a cause other than the ambient temperature being outside of the implementation conditions, perform the DTC inspection.

DTC Inspection

1.  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2.  Perform the PCM, BECM, and heat pump control unit DTC inspection using the M-MDS, and if an high voltage battery related DTC is output, repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC INSPECTION.) (See DTC TABLE [PCM (e-SKYACTIV)].) (See DTC TABLE [BECM (e-SKYACTIV)].) (See DTC TABLE [HEAT PUMP CONTROL UNIT].)
