Battery Charge Control Module


Purpose

•  The battery charge control module performs communication with the charging equipment.
•  The battery charge control module controls and monitors the AC/DC converter and DC/DC converter inside the onboard charger.


Function

•  The battery charge control module communicates information about the charging between the charging equipment and the vehicle using CPLT (Control Pilot) communication.
―  Information sent from charging equipment to battery charge control module
•  Connection status of charging cable
•  Power supply availability
•  Maximum electrical current that can be supplied
•  Charging equipment malfunctioning or not
―  Information sent from battery charge control module to charging equipment
•  Charging start signal
•  Charging finished signal
•  The battery charge control module sends the charging status to the PCM via CAN communication.
•  The battery charge control module controls the AC/DC converter and the DC/DC converter in the onboard charger during normal charging.
•  The PCM controls the charging according to the vehicle and high voltage battery conditions based on information from the battery charge control module and the BECM.

Charge Port-Electrical Supply Unit


Purpose

•  The charge port-electrical supply unit drives each actuator near the charge port. Additionally, it sends information about sensors near the charge port to the each module.


Function

•  The charge port-electrical supply unit has the following functions.
Connector lock function
•  The charge port-electrical supply unit drives the charge connector lock actuator by the control signal from the PCM to lock and unlock the charge cable. (See CHARGE CONNECTOR LOCK ACTUATOR [(E)].)
Charge lid lock function
•  The charge port-electrical supply unit drives the charge lid lock actuator by the control signal from the BCM to lock/unlock the charge port lid. (See CHARGE LID LOCK ACTUATOR.)
Charge indicator illumination function
•  The charge port-electrical supply unit turns on/off, flashes, and changes the charge indicator color by the control signal from the PCM. (See CHARGE INDICATOR/CHARGE PORT ILLUMINATION)
Charge port illumination on/off function
•  The charge port-electrical supply unit turns on/off the charge port illumination by the control signal from the PCM. (See CHARGE INDICATOR/CHARGE PORT ILLUMINATION.)
QBC (Quick Battery Charge) inlet temperature detection function
•  When quick charging, the charge port-electrical supply unit measures the charging inlet terminal temperature using the charging inlet temperature sensor, and it sends the information to the PCM. (See QBC (Quick Battery Charge) Inlet Temperature Sensor.)
Charge port open/close detection function
•  The charge port-electrical supply unit detects the open/close status of the charge port using the charge port lid open/close sensor, and it sends the information to the PCM. (See Charge Lid Open/Close Sensor.)

QBC (Quick Battery Charge) Inlet Temperature Sensor


Purpose, function

•  Measures the temperature of the charging terminal during quick charging and inputs it to the charge port-electrical supply unit.


Construction

•  The QBC inlet temperature sensor is built into the quick charge port.


Operation

•  A signal which changes according to the temperature of the quick charge port is input to the charge port-electrical supply unit.

Charge Lid Open/Close Sensor


Purpose, function

•  Detects the open/close status of the charge lid and inputs it to the charge port-electrical supply unit.


Construction

•  The charge lid open/close sensor is installed to the hinge area of the charge port lid.
•  The charge lid open/close sensor has adopted a normal close-type switch.


Operation

While charge lid is closed
•  When the projection on the hinge part of the charge lid presses the sensor switch, the contact of the sensor opens.
While charge lid is open
•  When the hinge part of the charge lid rotates and the projection on the hinge part is separated from the sensor switch, the contact of the sensor closes.
