Shift solenoid E stuck on

DETECTION CONDITION

•  The PCM detects that difference between the engine revolution and turbine revolution is more than 50 rpm when the following conditions are met.

―  D range

―  4GR

―  TCC operation: Off

Diagnostic support note:

•  This is a continuous monitor (CCM).

•  The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.

•  The HOLD indicator light flashes.

•  The PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.

•  FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.

•  The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Deteriorated ATF

•  ATF level low

•  Line pressure low

•  Shift solenoid E stuck

•  Control valve body malfunction

•  PCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED • Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2	VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY • Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability. • Is any related repair information available?	Yes	Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information. • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT ATF CONDITION • Inspect the ATF condition. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION.) • Is it normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Replace the ATF, then go to Step 7. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT.)
4	INSPECT ATF LEVEL • Inspect the ATF level. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION.) • Is it normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Add ATF to the specified level, then go to Step 7. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) REPLACEMENT.)
5	INSPECT LINE PRESSURE • Measure the line pressures. (See MECHANICAL SYSTEM TEST.) • Are the line pressures within the specifications?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	All ranges: Replace the oil pump, then go to Step 7. Any ranges: Replace the control valve body, then go to Step 7. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL.) (See CONTROL VALVE BODY INSTALLATION.)
6	INSPECT OPERATION OF EACH VALVE AND EACH SPRING • Remove the control valve body. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL.) • Disassemble the control valve body. • Is each valve operation normal and is the return spring normal?	Yes	Replace the transaxle, then go to the next step (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6		No	Repair or replace the valve and return spring, then go to the next step.
7	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0772:00 COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all the disconnected connectors. • Clear the DTC from the memory using the M-MDS. • Perform the following procedure to ensure that the DTC has been resolved: ― Drive the vehicle under the following conditions for 5 s. • 4GR • TCC operation On • Is the PENDING CODE same as the DTC present?	Yes	Replace the PCM, then go to the next step. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [ZJ, ZY].)
7		No	Go to the next step.
8	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Perform the “After Repair Procedure”. (See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE.) • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE.)
8		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
