Warning

• Handling the curtain air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the curtain air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) Note

• The SRS air bag system can be identified by whether or not the seat track position sensor is present.

― Standard deployment control system: Without seat track position sensor

― Two-step deployment control system: With seat track position sensor

1. Switch the ignition off.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(E)].)

3. Remove the following parts:

(1) Front map light (See FRONT MAP LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

(2) Sunvisor (See SUNVISOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(3) Assist handle (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(4) A-pillar trim (See A-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(5) Front seat belt lower anchor (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6) B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7) C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8) Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(9) Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R].) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F66M-R].)

(10) Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(11) Front console box (See FRONT CONSOLE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(12) Cup holder (See CUP HOLDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(13) Side wall (See SIDE WALL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(14) Rear console (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

(15) Rear vent duct (with rear vent duct) (See REAR VENT DUCT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(16) Rear console bracket No.1 (See REAR CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

(17) Headliner (See HEADLINER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(E)].)

4. Using a flathead screwdriver, lift the locking device carefully, however do not remove it.

5. Disconnect the connector.

6. Remove bolts A.

7. Remove bolts B.

8. Remove bolts C.

9. Remove the clip. (See Clip removal note.)

10. Remove bolt D.

11. Press the tabs of the fastener in the directions of the arrows shown in the figure and remove the fastener.

12. Remove the curtain air bag module.

13. Install in the reverse order of removal.

14. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

15. Verify that the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and turns off.

• If the air bag/seat belt pre-tensioner system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection of the system. (See DTC INSPECTION.)

Clip removal note

1. Pull out (2) the pin while pressing the tabs in the directions of the arrows (1) shown in the figure.

2. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the locations shown in the figure and detach the tabs from the body panel.

3. Remove the clip.

1. Switch the ignition off.

3. Remove the following parts:

(5) Front seat belt lower anchor (See FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(6) B-pillar upper trim (See B-PILLAR UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(7) Trunk side upper trim (See TRUNK SIDE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(8) C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(9) Selector lever knob (ATX) (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

(10) Shift lever knob (MTX) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [C66M-R].) (See SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [F66M-R].)
