Air bypass valve stuck or jammed error

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the air bypass valve position based on the signal from the air bypass valve position sensor and compares the target value with it. If any of the following conditions is detected, the PCM determines that the air bypass valve is stuck or jamming.
―  Air bypass valve position signal does not change above 2% for 4 s while the PCM commands that the air bypass valve operating.
―  Air bypass valve position signal does not change for 4 s while the PCM commands that the air bypass valve closing
―  Difference between target value and actual value for air bypass valve exceeds threshold for 5 s
•  Contaminate in air bypass valve
•  Air bypass valve position sensor malfunction
•  Vent or damaged in wiring between air bypass valve and PCM
•  Air bypass valve malfunction
•  PCM malfunction
POSSIBLE CAUSE

•  Air bypass valve position sensor malfunction
•  Vent or damaged in wiring between air bypass valve and PCM
•  Air bypass valve malfunction
•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE AND/OR DTC
•  Switch the ignition to off, then to ON (engine off).
•  Perform the Pending Trouble Code Access Procedure and DTC Reading Procedure.
•  Is the following PENDING CODE/DTC also present?
―  P0033, P022A, P022B, P022C, P024E, P024F
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

VISUALLY INSPECT AIR BYPASS VALVE FOR CONTAMINATION
•  Remove the EGR throttle valve component.
•  Visually inspect air bypass valve.
•  Is there any contamination?
Yes
Clean the air bypass valve, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AIR BYPASS VALVE POSITION SENSOR
•  Inspect the air bypass valve position sensor.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the air bypass valve component, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY THAT DTC P024B TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the after repair procedure.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
