Vehicle position deviates from the route map

POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Jammed radio signals from after market equipment (radar, remote engine starter, anti-theft device etc.)
•  Open or short circuit in harness between instrument cluster terminal 2O and multi information display terminal 1U (vehicle speed signal related)
•  Car-navigation unit (integrated multi information display) malfunction
•  Gyro sensor malfunction (integrated multi information display) malfunction
•  GPS antenna malfunction
•  Open or short circuit in feeder line between GPS antenna feeder and multi information display.

•  Is any of the following after-market equipment installed? (Inspect especially near the GPS antenna.)

―  Remote engine starter
―  Anti-theft device

Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 3.

•  Remove the after-market equipment.
Caution
•  The procedure requires an assistant.
•  Drive the vehicle without any obstacles.
•  Does the vehicle indicator follow the steering wheel direction?
Yes
System is normal.
The after-market electrical device might be interrupting to GPS reception.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Retrieve the multi information display DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the DTC B1893 displayed?
Yes
Perform the DTC B1893 diagnosis procedure.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Position the vehicle without any obstacles and receive GPS for 5 min. at idle.
•  Does “— : —” show up on the left lower side of the navigation function display screen?
Note
•  If the GPS signal can not be received, the multi information display car-navigation function can not display time and displays “— : —” on the car-navigation function screen.
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 10.

Caution
•  The procedure requires an assistant.
•  Verify that the multi information display terminal 1U pulse signal while vehicle driving using the oscilloscope.
•  Does the signal pulse frequency change according to vehicle speed?
Yes
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.

•  Verify that the speedometer indication.
•  Does the speedometer indication properly?
Yes
Perform the instrument cluster symptom troubleshooting “No.8 Speedometer indication is defective” procedure.
No
Inspect for open or short circuit between instrument cluster terminal 2O and multi information display terminal 1U.

Caution
•  The procedure requires an assistant.
•  Drive the vehicle and turn the steering wheel to the left or right.
•  Does the vehicle indicator follow the steering direction?
Yes
The system is normal.
Note
•  The vehicle indicator might be out of position in the following areas:
―  Parallel road, high-level road, loop road, tower type parking, high-rise building s lot.
No
Replace the multi information display. (Gyro sensor malfunction)

•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Inspect the connection of multi information display connector (24-pin).
•  Is the connector securely connected?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Securely connect the multi information display connector.

•  Disconnect the multi information display connector (24-pin).
•  Inspect both multi information display connector and wiring harness-side connector terminal I for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled out pins, corrosion).
•  Is the pin normal?
Yes
Inspect for vehicle speed signal circuit. (between instrument cluster and multi information display)
Repair or replace if necessary.
No
If the multi information display connector is wrong:
•  Replace the multi information display.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
•  Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Inspect the connection of the multi information display connector and GPS antenna connector.
•  Is the connector securely connected?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Securely connect the suspect connector.

•  Disconnect the GPS antenna and multi information display connector and inspect for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled out pins, corrosion).
•  Are all pins normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
If the multi information display connector is wrong:
•  Replace the multi information display.
If the GPS antenna connector is wrong:
•  Replace the GPS antenna.
If the wiring harness-side connector is wrong:
•  Repair or replace the pins and/or the connector.

•  Replace the GPS antenna.
•  Does the vehicle position deviate from route map continuously?
Yes
Replace the multi information display.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
