ENERGY-ABSORBING FORM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Front Energy-absorbing Form

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the set plate. (See SET PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the front bumper. (See FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL.) (See FRONT BUMPER INSTALLATION.)

4.  Insert a remover tool in the position shown in the figure, press out the areas where the pins are located on the fasteners in the direction of the arrow, and remove them.

Caution
•  When removing the front energy-absorbing form, hold the area around the guide and pull the front energy-absorbing form straight out from the front bumper reinforcement. Otherwise, the guide may be damaged.

5.  Pull the front energy-absorbing form in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure while detaching guides.

6.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

7.  If a front fog light is removed from the front bumper, perform the front fog light aiming. (With front fog lights) (See FRONT FOG LIGHT AIMING.)


Rear Energy-absorbing Form

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [MZR 1.6].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].) (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 1.5].)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Rear combination light (See REAR COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Rear splash shield (See SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Rear bumper (See REAR BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Insert a precision flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, pull out the center pins of the fasteners, and remove the fasteners.

Caution
•  When removing the rear energy-absorbing form, hold the area around the guide and pull the rear energy-absorbing form straight out from the rear bumper reinforcement. Otherwise, the guide may be damaged.

4.  Pull the rear energy-absorbing form in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure while detaching guides.

5.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
