DESCRIPTION

Auto stop switch (windshield wiper motor) circuit malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION
•  Short to power supply in the auto stop switch (windshield wiper motor) circuit.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Windshield wiper motor connector or terminals malfunction
•  Windshield wiper motor malfunction
•  BCM connector or terminals malfunction
•  Short to power supply in wiring harness between windshield wiper motor terminal D and BCM terminal 3G
•  BCM malfunction

*1  :Vehicles without advanced keyless entry and push button start system
*2  :Vehicles with advanced keyless entry and push button start system

CONFIRM BCM DTC
•  Clear the DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 7.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS
•  Switch the ignition to off.
•  Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR
•  Inspect the windshield wiper motor.
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Replace the windshield wiper motor, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR AND TERMINALS
•  Disconnect the BCM connector.
•  Inspect the connector and terminals (corrosion, damage, pin disconnection).
•  Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace the connector or terminals, then go to Step 6.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT AUTO STOP SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY
•  Verify that the windshield wiper motor and BCM connectors are disconnected.
•  Switch the ignition to ON.
•  Measure the voltage at the windshield wiper motor terminal D (wiring harness-side).
•  Is there any voltage?
Yes
Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to power supply, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Perform the BCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE PRESENT
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
