EXPANSION VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2.  Discharge the refrigerant. (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

Caution
•  If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.

3.  Disconnect the cooler pipe and cooler hose from the A/C unit. (See REFRIGERANT LINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Upper panel (See UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Decoration panel (See DECORATION PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Shift knob (MTX) (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Shift panel (See SHIFT PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Center panel lower (See CENTER PANEL LOWER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Glove compartment (See GLOVE COMPARTMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(7)  Dashboard under cover (See DASHBOARD UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(8)  Center panel upper (See CENTER PANEL UPPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(9)  Audio unit (See AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(10)  Passenger-side front scuff plate (See FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(11)  Passenger-side front side trim (See FRONT SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(12)  Side panel (See SIDE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(13)  Passenger-side air bag module (See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(14)  Heat duct (passenger’s side)
(15)  Auto leveling control module (See AUTO LEVELING CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(16)  Air intake actuator (See AIR INTAKE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].) (See AIR INTAKE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER].)
(17)  Airflow mode actuator (See AIRFLOW MODE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER].) (See AIRFLOW MODE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER].)

5.  Remove the adhesive polyurethane (3). (See A/C UNIT DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY.)

6.  Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

7.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

8.  Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST.)
