DTC P0707 (Flash Code 17) Transmission Range Switch Circuit Low (AWR6B45)

1. Transmission control system check

Refer to "55.Transmission Control 5A.Troubleshooting(AWR6B45) diagnostic system check-transmission controls".

2. Current DTC check

1) Connect the scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine and operate the vehicle.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to Shift cable and inhibitor switch inspection.

No

Go to Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission.

Refer to "206.Transmission, Transaxle 19D.Symptom(AWR6B45) Intermittent conditions of automatic transmission".

3. Shift cable and inhibitor switch inspection

1) Inspect whether the shift cable and inhibitor switch are properly adjusted. Is the result normal?

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) automatic transmission control cable installation".

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) inhibitor switch inspection".

Yes

=>Go to Each range display check.

No

Adjust as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Each range display check

1) Observe each Transmission Range Switch parameter on the scan tool while operating the selector lever. Is there a range on each Transmission Range Switch parameter that does not show ON?

Only OFF is displayed in all ranges.

=>Go to Fuse inspection.

Only OFF is displayed in the specified range.

=>Go to Check for open circuit in inhibitor switch signal circuit.

5. Fuse inspection

1) Inspect the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse for a blowout. Is the result normal?

Yes

=>Go to Inhibitor switch power supply circuit voltage check.

No

Replace the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse as necessary. If the fuse blows out again, repair the short to ground in the circuits relating to the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse.

=>Go to Repair verification.

6. Inhibitor switch power supply circuit voltage check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the inhibitor switch harness connector (E41).

3) Connect a test lamp between the inhibitor switch power supply circuit (pin 2 of E41) and the body ground.

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

4) Turn ON the ignition switch. Does the test lamp illuminate?

Yes

=>Go to Inhibitor switch harness connector inspection.

No

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in inhibitor switch power supply circuit.

7. Check for open circuit in inhibitor switch signal circuit

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the inhibitor switch harness connector (E41).

3) Connect a fused jumper wire between the inhibitor switch power supply circuit (pin 2 of E41) and the signal circuit (pin 1, 7, or 9 of E41) that displays OFF.

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

4) Observe the Transmission Range Switch parameter on the scan tool. Does the Transmission Range Switch parameter show OFF?

Yes

=>Go to Inspection for open circuit in inhibitor switch signal circuit.

No

=>Go to Inhibitor switch harness connector inspection.

8. Inspection for open circuit in inhibitor switch power supply circuit

1) Inspect the power supply circuit between the BACK UP(IG1) 7.5A fuse and the inhibitor switch (pin 2 of E41) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Inhibitor switch harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

9. Inspection for open circuit in inhibitor switch signal circuit

1) Inspect the signal circuit between the TCM (pins 6, 16, and 17 of E7) and the inhibitor switch (pins 1, 7, and 9 of E41) for an open circuit or high resistance. Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to TCM harness connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

10. Inhibitor switch harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the inhibitor switch harness connector (pins 1, 2, 7, and 9 of E41). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

Replace the inhibitor switch.

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) inhibitor switch removal".

Refer to "5.Transmission, Transaxle 5B.Automatic(AWR6B45) inhibitor switch installation".

=>Go to Repair verification.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

11. TCM harness connector inspection

1) Inspect for poor connections at the TCM harness connector (pins 6, 16, and 17 of E7). Is the result normal?

Refer to "LHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "RHD Automatic Transmission" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to TCM replacement.

No

Repair the connections as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

12. TCM replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the TCM.

13. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

Note

  • The ECM sets DTC P0700 if the TCM sets emission related DTCs. Clear the ECM DTC after clearing the TCM DTC.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch for 30 seconds or more.

3) Start the engine and operate the vehicle.

4) Observe each Transmission Range Switch parameter on the scan tool.

5) Observe each Transmission Range Switch parameter shows ON in accordance with the operation while operating the selector lever.

6) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
