DTC U0126[87] Lost Communication With Steering Angle Sensor (ABS/ESC)

1. Brake control system check

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) diagnostic System Check - Brake Controls".

2. Prioritized DTC check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Connect the scan tool.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC U0055[88] set at the same time?

Yes

Go to DTC U0055[88] diagnosis.

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) DTC U0055[88] Chassis CAN Bus OFF Error".

No

=>Go to Steering angle sensor voltage inspection.

3. Steering angle sensor voltage inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the steering angle sensor harness connector (B33).

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Measure the voltage of the steering angle sensor (pins 4 and 1 of B33) with a DMM. Is the voltage within the specified range?

Value: 10 to 16 V

Refer to "LHD Electronic Stability Control" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

=>Go to Wire harness and connector inspection.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. Wire harness and connector inspection

1) Inspect the wire harnesses and connectors for the following. Is the result normal?

Wire harness to be inspected

  • Between the EHCU (pin 26 of C13) and the steering angle sensor (pin 3 of B33)
  • Between the EHCU (pin 14 of C13) and the steering angle sensor (pin 2 of B33)

Inspection items

  • Continuity
  • Short to ground or short to other circuits
  • Terminal connection status

Refer to "RHD Electronic Stability Control" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Refer to "LHD Electronic Stability Control" in the ETM (wiring diagram). (Open using the ETM viewer.).

Yes

Replace the steering angle sensor.

Note

  • Perform Learning for Steering Central Position after replacing the steering angle sensor.

Refer to "6.Steering 6Z.Steering Electrical Control steering angle sensor setting".

=>Go to Procedure completion verification.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Procedure completion verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is a DTC set?

Yes

=>Go to EHCU replacement.

No

The system is normal.

6. EHCU replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the EHCU.

Procedure completion

=>Go to Repair verification.

7. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
