DTC C053C[16] Wheel Speed Sensor Supply Voltage Below Threshold (ABS/ESC)

1. Brake control system check

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) diagnostic System Check - Brake Controls".

2. Prioritized DTC check

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Connect the scan tool.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Is DTC C0031[01], C0034[01], C0037[01], or C003A[01] set at the same time?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC diagnosis.

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) DTC C0031[01] Front Left Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Failure".

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) DTC C0034[01] Front Right Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Failure".

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) DTC C0037[01] Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Failure".

Refer to "54.Brake Control 4A.Troubleshooting(ABS/ESC) DTC C003A[01] Rear Left Wheel Speed Sensor Electrical Failure".

No

=>Go to Wheel speed sensor wire harness and connector inspection.

3. Wheel speed sensor wire harness and connector inspection

1) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

2) Disconnect the EHCU harness connector (C13), front left wheel speed sensor harness connector (C25), front right wheel speed sensor harness connector (C24), and rear wheel speed sensor harness connector (R36).

3) Inspect the wire harnesses and connectors for the following. Is the result normal?

Wire harness to be inspected

  • Between the EHCU (pin 19 of C13) and the front left wheel speed sensor (pin 2 of C25)
  • Between the EHCU (pin 16 of C13) and the front right wheel speed sensor (pin 2 of C24)
  • Between the EHCU (pin 31 of C13) and the rear left wheel speed sensor (pin 4 of R36)
  • Between the EHCU (pin 17 of C13) and the rear right wheel speed sensor (pin 2 of R36)

Inspection items

  • Continuity
  • Terminal connection status

Yes

=>Go to EHCU replacement.

No

Repair the circuit as necessary.

=>Go to Repair verification.

4. EHCU replacement

Note

  • Perform programming after replacing the EHCU.

=>Go to Repair verification.

5. Repair verification

1) Clear the DTC with a scan tool.

2) Turn OFF the ignition switch.

3) Turn ON the ignition switch.

4) Observe the DTC information with a scan tool.
